TOP 10 REASONS WHY I LOVE MY JOB

I won’t lie, I love what I do. Helping people reach their fitness goals while having an uproarious time doing so, plus being my own boss and having the freedom to work when I want, well, it doesn’t get much better than that. To me, it’s not work, it’s just what I love to do. So here’s the first half from the list of 10 things that make my “job” sweet (in no particular order):

10. Sau Wan’s Laugh:
No matter what I throw at Sau Wan, she’ll do it. Sometimes it’s with reluctance, but usually it’s with a laugh. And it’s such a genuine, full of enjoyment laugh that makes me crack up every time I hear it. Although she’ll deny it, Sau Wan always gives the competition a run for their money with her clever and artful moves on the tag playing field. I love it when her competitiveness comes out because that’s usually when her laughter comes out too.

9. Monica’s Moans:
Not a class goes by where Monica doesn’t moan in pure “Hear Me Roar” style when struggling through a grueling new exercise that I’ve conjured up. She’s put in her time to earn the “Super Mom” title, so it always makes me burst out laughing when a Tarzan-like wail escapes her tiny frame.

8. Insomnia:
Most of you know I don’t sleep much, but it’s during these times when I come up with my best ideas for class. I know, sometimes that’s a bad thing (like backwards Bear Crawl up the hill), but hey, in the end, you know it’s going to be original and it’s going to give you the results you want. So instead of fighting the sleeplessness, I embrace it.

7. Tom’s Compliance:
Tom never whines, complains, groans, moans or cries. He does every exercise without commentary. He doesn’t question or belittle. He knows what’s good for him and he brings 110% to every activity. Tom is every trainer’s dream client.

6. The Outdoors:
One thing that most bootcampers have in common is that they hate the gym. I’m no exception. I can’t remember the last time I stepped foot in a gym. I never take clients or friends there. Why confine yourself to a small, overcrowded space with limited equipment when you can be enjoying the fresh air and the limitless possibilities of the outdoors to enhance your workout? To me, it’s a no-brainer.

Stay tuned for the final five next time!
